Portrait of Child Outcomes

Poised for Progress and Empowerment

The Portrait of Child Outcomes is a story about the Real Stakes for children - Progress, and the Real Stakes for programs - Empowerment. As programs continue to enhance their capability to gather and analyze real-time data on children's progress, they are increasingly able to use the data where it counts - in providing effective learning opportunities for children. As a result, the processes of assessment, goal setting, planning, and outcome documentation become fully integrated - serving the best interests of the child. By showing a comprehensive picture of the progress children are making over time, the Portrait demonstrates that Head Start programs are not only responsible for quality learning, they are responsive to children.

Look for Change!

Just as with children and programs, the Portrait of Child Outcomes is dynamic, continually evolving and changing. It is intended to present information that can add to our knowledge base about children' s learning and stimulate discussion to promote learning.

The Portrait will grow as new programs join in to add their own data to the story.

The Portrait will change as it is updated with progress data throughout the program year.

The Portrait will expand as new content and new reports are added to create an increasingly comprehensive picture of the Head Start family.

As the Portrait changes, updated data will be available throughout the program year. To view updates, simply visit ATI again and click on the View Real-Time Data button under Portrait of Child Outcomes.
